What did I say? Mavs did work.
First win of the season 99-86 over the Toronto Raptors. Our defense looked as good as I’ve ever seen it—blocks, steals, and forcing turnovers. And moreover, capitalizing on those turnovers and getting points.  I am so excited to see more of Roddy Beaubois and Ian Mahinmi! They are both proving themselves and improving with each minute they get on the court. Who would have thought...

Even in defeat, the Mavs are encouraged
Even in defeat, the Dallas Mavericks know they showed last night that they do indeed have a pulse. After 11-point and 22-point losses to open the season against Miami and Denver, respectively, the Mavs played the Oklahoma City Thunder down to the very last second. And it was Kevin Durant’s amazing three-point shot at the buzzer that beat the Mavs, 104-102, to send the Mavs home with an 0-3...

Williams ate French fries last night
For those inquiring minds, Sean Williams ate some French fries during his pre-game meal last night. Tuesday night, when he vomited in the bench area in the fourth quarter during the Denver game, Williams ate some chocolate almonds. That’s when he discovered chocolate almonds and the NBA don’t mix. Williams said Robert Hackett, the Mavs’ strength and conditioning coach, told him to lay off the...

Mavs gettin' dirty and doin' work to start this...
Our boys are looking much, much sharper tonight so far. Delonte West is finally getting his feet wet on this team—looking good on both ends of the court, and Kidd proves that age ain’t nothin’ but a number. Dirk’s looking fierce as usual. Newcomer Sean Williams may be a little too enthusiastic, but I can’t really fault him for that. Still, a foul and a technical in...

Quick thoughts on tonight’s game: I can’t tell if I’m just being a hater or if he’s really not doing anything yet, but I am just really unenthused about Vince Carter. Lamar Odom isn’t doing it for me either. Brendan Haywood is no Tyson Chandler, but he is showing promise. I have high hopes for him, especially after he put in a few good plays early in the game.  ...

Thoughts on Mavs 105-94 loss to the Heat
Everyone, everyone, everyone needs to be sharper. Too many missed shots, sloppy passes, and turnovers.  Mavs continue to chip away at their deficits, which I’m happy with. Proves that once we get our sea legs, we will be a force to be reckoned with. It’s going to be a tough year—there are a lot of great teams in this league. I’m not calling a repeat trip to the Finals just...

Stop Discounting the Mavs.
Didn’t the Dallas Mavericks win the 2011 NBA Championship? Or did I just dream that? I mean, I have been a tragically die-hard Mavs fan for the last 10 years, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I just imagined 2011 in an effort to forget all the previous playoff woes. Let me look it up real quick…OK, yeah. They did win it all. That’s odd. All I hear about heading into this...

Heat won't watch the Mavs raise the banner
The Miami Heat will be in their American Airlines Center locker room in the season opener Sunday when the Dallas Mavericks raise the championship banner in a brief ceremony. While some Mavs fans believe the Heat should be on the bench watching the ceremonies, Mavs forward Dirk Nowitzki isn’t sure if he was in Miami’s shoes if he wanted to watch the team that beat them for the title raise the...

Mavs sign C Sean Williams
Sean Williams signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks today. Ther second season of the contract is only partially guaranteed. Williams will compete with Brendan Haywood and Ian Mahinmi for playing time as the Mavs attempt to shore up their interior defense heading into Sunday’s regular season opener against Miami. The roster currently sits at 16, so a final decision will have to be...

Peja Stojakovic is going out on top. One of the greatest shooters in NBA history, Stojakovic, 34, announced he will retire after 13 seasons in the NBA which finished with him winning his first ever championship with the Mavericks last season.  “When you start competing against your body more than you’re preparing for the actual game,” Stojakovic said, “it’s a...
