All-NBA teams announced today:

1st team: LeBron, Durant, Dwight, Kobe and Chris Paul

2nd teamLove, Griffin, Bynum, Parker and Westbrook.

3rd teamDirk, Carmelo Anthony, Chandler, D-Wade and Rondo.

Dirk and Kobe are the only players who have been named to an All-NBA team for the past 12 consecutive seasons.

He has been named 4 times to the 1st team, 5 times to the 2nd team, and now 3 times to the 3rd team.

On being named to the squad:

“It’s an honor to make the all-NBA team again,” Nowitzki said. To be named among the best players in this league is always still very humbling for me. I also appreciate the opportunity to represent my teammates and the Mavericks organization on this list.”

Could Dirk’s future in Dallas be anything less than 100%?

Even before the Dallas Mavericks had officially lost their first-round series with the Thunder, Dirk Nowitzki made it clear he would be watching intently to see what Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson did this offseason. Nowitzki told FOXSportsSouthwest.com that if the Mavs weren’t able to land a “big fish” in the offseason, it would provide evidence they should’ve simply kept the championship team intact.

Cuban’s army of “yes” men/women in this market will quickly point to how the league’s new collective bargaining agreement made that virtually impossible, but that’s always been an odd argument from a man who prides himself in finding ways to overcome financial barriers. There was an obvious disconnect between management and the incumbent players on this season’s team. It was impossible for those players to ignore the fact Dallas wasn’t making an honest attempt to defend its title in the abbreviated 2012 season.

Random Mavs fact: Shawn Marion (7.4 rebs/game) was the only player in the NBA 6-foot-7 or shorter to lead his team in rebounding this year.

Should Mavs bring back Ian Mahinmi?

Ian Mahinmi recorded career-best statistics across the board in his second season with the Dallas Mavericks — his fourth in the league and first as a true backup center.

Even in a lockout-shortened schedule, he played a career-high 61 games this season and average 5.8 points and 4.8 rebounds, also career bests. The 18.7 minutes a game he averaged were 10 full minutes more than he averaged during his career-high last season as the Mavs’ third-string center.

Dwight Howard still wants to be traded

Despite the recent firings of head coach Steve Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith, Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard still wants to be traded, according to report from SheridanHoops.com.

Howard, who had disagreements with both Van Gundy and Smith, exercised his player option for the 2012-13 season just before the NBA’s trade deadline on March 15, but has not committed to signing a long-term contract extension with Orlando.

It was thought Howard would remain with Magic if both men were shown the door, but that no longer appears to be the case.

Among teams that are expected to be in the running for Howard’s services are the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, and Dallas Mavericks.

Center is definitely a position of need for the Mavs, who lost Tyson Chandler last season and were forced to rely on an aging Brendan Haywood and an inexperienced Ian Mahinmi this season. Dallas should be well under the $58 million salary cap next season and will have the ability to offer Howard a max contract.

We want to have the best players in the game, that’s always going to be our goal here. And there’s three ways you get them: you draft them, you trade for them or you get them in free agency, and we’re going to explore all three of those vehicles to continue to improve the team and get the right guys around Dirk Nowitzki. Our championship happened because we had the perfect mix of guys, not only on the floor, but around him. We’re always working on that.

Rick Carlisle on off-season goals
Pshhh Thunder up! I will never root for the Spurs. Plus, I feel it is acceptable to root for the team that beat us since then we can at least say we lost to the new champs if they win it all.
What do you guys think? Spurs or Thunder for Western Conference champs?

It’s in the Lord’s hands and he’ll work it out that way but all signs point to me being back here. First and foremost I definitely understand how Rick Carlisle wants to play. What he feels is the right recipe for success … and that fits to my game. Then I’m the ultimate team player man, you know I can do so much. That’s why I really don’t do one thing great, cause I do everything good.

So this is my best friend’s ex-biology teacher with Shawn Marion. We stole this from her facebook. Probably should have asked permission first. Oh well.
